Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Government Medical College & Hospital (SLBSMC) is a public Medical college located in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, India. The Medical College at Ner Chowk was founded by Sh. Oskar Fernandes the hon’ble Labour & Employment Minister GOI in the year 2009. In the year 2012, Prof Dr D.S. Dhiman was appointed first Dean of the college by ESIC. In the year 2012-13, ESIC applied to MCI for inspection but the LOP could not be granted to ESIC on account of, various aministrative reasons. In the year 2013-14 & 2014-15 the same situation prevailed.
In the year 2013 a blood donation camp was organised in the campus of ESIC with the help of an NGO and the same was inaugurated by Hon’ble Health Minister of H.P. Thakur Kaul Singh.
The building of ESIC was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Labour & Employment Minister G.O.I Hon’ble Oskar Fernandes alongwith Hon’ble Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh Raja Virbhadra Singh Ji and in the ouspicious presence of Thakur Kual Singh, Hon’ble Health & Revenue Minister, Sh. Anil Sharma Hon’ble RD & PR Minister and Sh. Prakash Chaudhary Hon’ble Excise Minister of Himachal Pradesh in May, 2014.

One of the best colleges for MBBS.
After 4 years, students are supposed to do 1 year of internship for which they are paid. The current salary for an intern is Rs. 17,500 per month.

The college infrastructure and facilities are good.
The education facilities are good. It is worth studying here. It is nice to be a part of this institution. I enjoy studying here. The college has good equipment, lecture halls, auditorium, and a recreation hall.
