Sanctioned under G.O.Ms.No 27, Dt: 13.02.2019, the college is affiliated with Dr. YSR University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada, and approved by the National Medical Commission (NMC).

The medical college is attached to the Government General Hospital, Rajamahendravaram, which has been upgraded to a 500-bedded teaching hospital.
