Chittagong Medical College and Hospital was founded in 1957, with Maiden Principal Professor Altaf Uddin Ahmed, Minister of Health and Social Welfare Dhirendranath Datta, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Prime Minister Huseyn Shaheed Suhrawardy, District Magistrate MA Rashid, Police Super, and Central Health Minister Zahiruddin in attendance. This medical college is the largest in Chittagong and the second largest in Bangladesh.
Chittagong Medical Institution (CMC) is the oldest medical college in Bangladesh's south-eastern region, located in the coastal city of Chittagong. It is linked with a tertiary hospital where clinical students get training in medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, and other subspecialties.
The Chittagong Medical College campus contains a well-structured building with a department of administration and a library, as well as an administrative building. This has begun with the establishment of super-specialized, digitized laboratories. The CMCH campus provides students with amenities such as large lecture rooms with digitized facilities such as projectors and AV equipment.
