North East Medical College (NEMC) Sylhet

Northeast Medical College is a private Medical College located in Sylhet, Bangladesh. NEMC was established in 1998 with the united effort of some special doctors and social workers in heart of the town of Sylhet to provide medical services to the community at an affordable cost.

North East Medical College  is listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools, published by the World Health Organization (WHO), FAIMER SCHOOL ID: F0002386 and is now maintained as the Avicenna Directory for Medicine and also listed in the International Medical Education Directory (IMED). IMED (International Medical Education Directory) recognition allows NEMCH medical students/ graduates to apply for the USMLE examination by ECFMG, the USA for employment and for post-graduate training in the United States and Canada as well as can apply for PLAB, AMC, and NZREX examinations, etc. Also, graduates of NEMC are eligible for limited registration with the General Medical Council of the United Kingdom.

The honorable speaker Alhaj Humayun Rashid Chowdhury inaugurate Northeast Medical College on 9th August 1996.

Thereafter the founder realizes the need to establish a private medical college to meet the increasing demand for meritorious students and to fulfill the demand of the country for the specialized doctor. Northeast Medical Pvt. Ltd. founded Northeast Medical College in 1998. Thereafter laying Foundation of North East Medical College by honorable Health and Family Welfare Minister Jonab Sala Uddin Yousuf on 12 December 1999.

Further 6 (Six) acres of land have been acquired in south Surma near the Sylhet –Dhaka highway & the construction of the college and hospital building including the administrative block has been completed. This was inaugurated by Honorable Finance and Planning Minister Jonab Alhaj M. Saifur Rahman, M.P on 24^th May 2002. Further, the institute upgraded to 600 bedded hospital and multistoried college building. The college and hospital are managed by a staff of excellent Professional personnel whose expertise & experiences have enriched the Teaching Research and Health Care system.
