  • Indian students pursuing medical studies in Bangladesh must first pass the NEET-UG examination.
  • Check the National Medical Commission (NMC) guidelines when studying MBBS overseas.
  • Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC) is the official authority for medical practice in Bangladesh. Indian students must abide by its regulations.
  • All applicants must present Equivalency Certificates for Indian degrees/certificates as an essential element of their application to study in Bangladesh.
  • As soon as they arrive in Dhaka, any Indian citizen must register with the Indian High Commission.

FMGL / NMC Guidelines to Study MBBS in Bangladesh 2025

NMC has not issued any specific guidelines for Indian students wishing to study MBBS in Bangladesh and then return home. However, according to its regulations, those looking to practice medicine after returning must fulfil certain requirements as detailed below:

  • According to National Medical College guidelines, an MBBS program abroad should last at least 54 months.
  • Candidates must complete a mandatory 12-month internship program at their medical college of choice.
  • General Medicine, Community Medicine, Psychiatry, Paediatrics, Anaesthesia, General Surgery, and Obstetrics/Gynaecology must all be included as specialisation areas at universities that accept Indian students. Anaesthesia for general surgery procedures must also be available, along with obstetrics/gynaecology procedures like otorhinolaryngology or orthopaedic surgery, which may also be included as subspecialties within these disciplines. Emergency services/casualty services, as well as lab services, must also all be covered within these academic specialisation areas/subspecialties within universities that accept Indian students.
  • Bangladesh MBBS colleges that provide theoretical, practical, and clinical education must fulfil the same standards set out for Indian MBBS courses.
