1. Question - What is the duration of a Medical Doctor Degree or MBBS in Egypt for local students?

Ans: The duration of MBBS in Egypt for local students is 5 years.

2. Question - What is the duration of a Medical Doctor Degree or MBBS in Egypt for foreign students?

Ans: The duration of MBBS in Egypt for foreign students is also 5 Years.

3. Question - What is the Language of instruction for a Medical Doctor Degree or MBBS in Egypt (English or another language)?

Ans: The language of teaching/instruction is English only in 3 Universities- Ain Shams, Cairo, and Mansoura. As of date, almost all Indian students are pursuing medicine in Ain Shams and Cairo Univerisity Only.

4. Question - What is the provision & Duration of the Internship?

Ans: In general, an Internship is for 2 years period after completion of the MBBS Degree. There is a provision where students can opt for 1 year or 2 years of internship as per their requirements. This provision is applicable to all Universities.

5. Question - Can an Indian student obtain a license to practice in Egypt and is this at par with the Registration granted to local citizens in Egypt and the process of registration in Egypt?

Ans: Yes, Indian students can obtain a license to practice in Egypt. There are 02 conditions for it: a. Student must successfully complete 02 years of Internship and have to pass an exam organized by Egyptian Medical Syndicate. If a student fulfills both criteria, the required license will be issued by Egyptian Medical Syndicate in consultation with the concerned university.

6. Question - Do they have any licensing exams in Egypt and if Yes, in which language?

Ans: Yes, there is an exam for procuring the required license for practice, and the exam is in Arabic and English Languages. 

7. Question – Can I know the syllabus/study guide of the leading medical universities (Ain Shams and Cairo University)?

Ans: The official student guides available are as follows: For Ain Shams University (https://www.asu.edu.eg/pdfViewer/6945) and for Cairo University (https://medicine.cu.edu.eg/student/index.php/program/74- uncategorised/768-students-guide-2022). 

8. Does the Egyptian Government offer scholarships for UG and PG courses? If so what would be my first point of contact to avail of these scholarships?

Ans: Yes, presently there are 6 scholarships annually for PG courses offered by the Egyptian Government. The first point of contact for PG courses would be the Embassy of India, Cairo (Email: cons.cairo@mea.gov.in). Egypt offers 20 scholarships annually for UG courses. The first point of contact to avail of these scholarships would be the Embassy of Egypt in New Delhi or the Consulate General of Egypt in Mumbai. (Email: india_emb@mfa.gov.eg)
